The Homeschool Book Shop Newsletter>
July
July 10, 2009
July has been very busy. It has been delightful to get to know so many new faces and to see many familiar faces returning. Our shelves are becoming more interesting all the time!
Many things have changed recently. We began listing a few items on Amazon (the collectibles) and will be adding more as we have time. We have a growing selection of local and state history as well as a rapidly expanding U.S history area.
It has been so exciting to see some popular requests coming in and having my first look at various new-to-me curriculi. Our inventory is turning over so fast we can hardly keep up. It seems like the new things coming in are only staying on the shelf for a day.
Chess club us also up and going. We started a DVD tutorial this week and we are learning specific moves and chess strategy. Chess club will be going all year long on Fridays from 12-2. All ages welcome.
The special needs support group has had its 3rd meeting. We are only 40 minutes into the DVD series, but have had some inventive and encouraging discussion! This is an open group to any family (fathers and mothers) who is home educating a special needs child. Your needs don't even have to be severe to gather encouragement from these meetings. We meet on the second Thursday of the month from 7-9 here at The Homeschool Book Shop. Newcomers always welcome!
God has been very good and we are enjoying Spokane and the lovely folks here. We look forward to seeing you sometime this summer!
2 Corinthians 12:9 (King James Version)
"9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
"On hard days when nothing you do seems right and you send most of your time dealing with conflict and rebellion, you must remindyourself, "What I am doing right now, although hard, is close to God's heart. And what I am doing is exactly what God has called His children to do." Paul David Tripp (author, founder of Christian Counselling and Education Foundation, & adoptive father).
