We were blessed to hold our first support group meeting for homeschooling special needs kids. We have decided to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm at The Homeschool Book Shop. Beginning in June, we will be watching a DVD series and discussing what we see. It may take us the rest of the year to get through the 5 hour series. The series is about neurodevelopment and unlocking the brain to function at a premium. The organization which produced this series of lectures (I-Can-Do) is amazing and we are fortunate to have one of the founders living right here in the Spokane area. When we have completed the DVDs, we hope to have Cyndi Ringoen come and speak to our group.
Our meeting format is very open to allow for encouragement, prayer and discussion. Fathers & mothers are invited to attend. You may not think your needs are "severe" enough to attend or "too severe" to attend. Don't let misconceptions or assumptions prohibit you! Direct questions are more than welcome and may help to reassure you.
It was a blessing for Jeff & I to pray for the needs of others, give encouragement and receive encouragement. We look forward to our next meeting!
