Great Things
February 17, 2009
Many great things are happening at The Homeschool Book Shop! We have been adding some amazing inventory and our shelves are filling and changing constantly! I have discovered some areas that need to be spread out and others that need to be filled in. What fun it has been to see where we can grow!
We are feeling the currents of change coming as families are beginning to see light at the end of the school year's tunnel. You have probably heard of the February Doldrums. It has been observed that homeschooling moms experience their lowest point of the year during February. Speaking for myself, it begins to feel like winter may never be over, the kids are getting grumpy from cabin fever, I'm realizing that we aren't as far in school as I thought we should be, and the schedule of "end-of-the-year" activities are starting to fill the calendar, not to mention, we are all a little tired of the routine. Somehow, knowing that it is normal and predictable helps give me perspective and fortitude.
As for feeling the currents of change, we are still meeting many new people at the shop! We are receiving some very exciting books and so much more than I can quickly fill you in on! Our history section is beginning to fill in some of its empty shelves (I still have 30+ boxes of strictly history to inventory and shelve!). Our collection is becoming more varied all the time and our A Beka selection is becoming even more developed!
Since we are all consignment, our selection changes constantly! I never know what surprise will be in the box. It is shocking to me how often the very thing that someone was looking for ends up on our counter the next day! If you ever need something, write it down in our Waiting List and see what happens!
We have enjoyed our first winter here in Spokane! I have heard many say they are ready for spring, but the snow has been a lovely change from the raining fall/winter/spring season in Seattle, that we are full of rejoicing!
May God bless your week!
