Bubbly Joy

January 29, 2009

This morning, I had the pleasure to make some new friends. A couple came in to fill in their homeschool curriculum for the next several months. They are leaving shortly to join a persecuted church in Africa.

This is an aspect of The Book Shop that I am enjoying immensely! Meeting missionaries and hearing about ways the Lord is working in the lives of His people just makes me giddy! It makes me bubbly to see the ways in which our living God is actively at work. His kingdom is advancing!

If you would join us in praying for our fellow believers who are in service to the gospel and putting their lives at risk for His name's sake, we would be tremendously blessed. For the couple I met today, as is true with many missionary families, it is nearly impossible to plan for the future as they are walking by faith every moment. It can be difficult to wait for the Lord to show His will and direction. Our family is in prayer for those who have taken such a big step of faith!

I was reading in James this week. It seems applicable for our brothers and sisters in the mission field.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5

This verse is a declaration of the Lord's faithfulness and generosity. It is a promise that if we ask for wisdom, He WILL give it! Wisdom, after all, is the route to happiness...

"Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold." Proverbs 3:13

In Proverbs 8:17 Wisdom says, "I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me."

Promises, promises! Pray for wisdom! We pray for this within our family and will pray more earnestly for the believers who have been called to the mission field.

We have a large laminated map in The Shop which we use to keep track of the geographical locations our family studies. Do you know a missionary you would like us to pray for? Share their location with us and we will place a dot on the map for them, or you can put the dot on the map when you come visit us. If you are in missions yourself, we would love to know so that we can pray for you!

Godspeed to His Word,

A.
