The Homeschool Book Shop Newsletter>
Progress Every Day
October 1, 2008
Today was our day to really begin to feel settled in! The Study Hall is nearly complete. Jonathan True (mentioned earlier) is doing the final addition tomorrow or the next day by adding hooks to hang our extra chairs. The Study Hall deserves a page all of its own! As soon as I get time, I will add it.
We returned the truck to the rental company today empty except for my tricycle. Yes, a trike. We have been blessed to be able to set up shop close to our home! In fact, we are so close that it would be silly to drive when we can travel back and forth just as quickly on our bikes. In my case, it is a trike. The trike was the perfect shop transportation as it has a fabulous cargo bay and a comfy tractor seat! If it sounds like a cross between an S.U.V. and a piece of farm equipment it is because it has every bit of usefulness of both these vehicles without the necessity of fuel except my very own legs.
The children are quite excited to decorate this contraption with a flag announcing The Homeschool Book Shop and a licensce plate on the basket that says any number of crazy things. For some reason they seem to think I am a bit...odd. I'm afraid I may have warped their notions of just what a homeschooling mom is all about. Let's just say that "over-achiever" is the first thing on the list and if they knew the phrase, they might even put "Type A" somewhere in there. They have yet to meet the wide variety of lovely women who bring real charm to the title, "Homeschooling Mom."
All of their teasing is said with a great deal of laughter and love because I have no doubt that their teasing is said with much affection, and they know it is received with just as much affection! I love my children and I love having them with me (almost always!).
So the shop is making progress and on most days (except Sunday), you will find one or more of my family members buzzing about the place. We aren't open for business, yet, but if you would like to come and meet us, we should be there during regular business hours most of the time and would be happy to let you see our setting-up-mess.
We are also accepting consignment. Of course, we won't be selling anything until we open our doors in TWO WEEKS (God willing)! It woudl be best if you call ahead to make certain that someone is there to receive your things before making a trip to see us. You can call, 315-4389.
Onward and Forward!
